ABOUT

My name is Jack Hamilton, and I am a visual effects artist and compositor. I was born in Andover, MA, and grew up making movies with my friends. I began to teach myself how to write, shoot, and edit movies at a very young age. As my imagination grew, I began experimenting with visual effects and graphics in order to make my movie ideas a reality. This experimentation quickly became a passion and an obsession, and I would purposefully think up difficult shots and ideas in order to push myself to learn more.

Eventually friends of mine as well as others took notice of my visual effects work, and I began working on both feature films and shorts, locally and long-distance. In 2009, I was the VFX supervisor and VFX artist on the short film "Scrabble: The Motion Picture" which won Best Comedy in the Campus Movie Fest film festival. Also, it was nominated for Best Visual Effects.

In early 2010, I reprised my role as VFX supervisor and VFX artist on "Grow Grass Grow," another short film which went on the win Best Comedy in the Campus Movie Fest film festival.

On May 23rd, 2010, I scraped together as much money as I could, packed my bags, and made the big move from Massachusetts to Los Angeles, CA. Approximately 3 weeks after couch surfing with my friend Kyle McCauley, I found an apartment and landed a job as a stereoscopic compositor at Sassoon Film Design, a post-production house based out of Santa Monica, CA.

Since then I've been living happily in LA, working on all sorts of projects ranging from Hollywood feature films to personal projects, short films with friends, and promotional videos. In 2012, I was lucky enough to work alongside Alex Perry and Sean Astin for the short parody movie, Boobathon, which was featured on the front page of FunnyorDie.com.

I'm constantly on the lookout for more work, and look forward to continuing my development as a visual effects artist and supervisor.

I also like red meat, good cooking, and cold beer. And video games.
